Apple Galette

47 days until Autumn & there’s nothing like apple desserts to welcome in the season! My recipe will make 1 galette & yields 4 large slices.

Let’s start with the dough- you can use already made Pillsbury pie dough.

If you want to me homemade dough, you will need 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1 tsp. sugar, 1/2 cup butter chilled, & 1/4 cup cold water. mix it all together well and refrigerate for an hour (or up to 2 days.)

Dough Tips: Butter dough is nice and flakey when baked but can be sticky to roll out. I suggest using a silicone baking mat. If you use the silicone baking mat, you can transfer the mat right onto a cookie sheet easily for baking.

I also suggest covering the silicone baking mat in a little flour & to also add flour as you roll the dough if the dough is sticky.

While the dough is chilling in the refrigerator, peel, core, & slice 3 apples. I used gala apples. Mix apples with 1 tbsp. cinnamon, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tbsp. corn starch.

Mix up a small amount of sugar and cinnamon in a bowl & set aside.

Roll dough out on silicone baking mat. Place apples in the center of dough, leaving about 1-1/2 inch space around the outside of the dough. Fold the outside dough over the top of the apples. Brush outside dough with egg white. Sprinkle dough with cinnamon and sugar. Bake 375 degrees for one hour or until dough is baked.

Topping:

You can top with Vanilla Bean ice cream or make a vanilla ice cream using

1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 tsp. milk.
